A serious shop for serious operators

When your airplane matters, you don't shop maintenance on price.

Aircraft maintenance done right takes manufacturer-authorized credentials, mechanics who do this every day, parts inventory that doesn’t leave you waiting, and a shop that’s still going to be there when you need warranty work in three years. We’ve built TFA Maintenance around exactly that profile.

We maintain our own 12-aircraft Diamond training fleet continuously. That fleet doesn’t get serviced anywhere else — every annual, 100-hour, AD, SB, and unscheduled fix happens in our hangar. The same shop that keeps our airplanes flying year-round is the shop that maintains our clients’ aircraft. There’s no separate “owner aircraft” team that’s less practiced than our fleet team. It’s one operation.

Authorizations & certifications

Four credentials that matter.

These aren't generic affiliations. Each authorization specifies what factory-trained work we're qualified to perform, which directly affects warranty coverage on your aircraft.

Airframe

Diamond Aircraft Factory-Authorized Service Center

Authorized by Diamond Aircraft Industries to perform warranty work, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, and factory-approved modifications on the entire Diamond fleet — DA20, DA40 (legacy and NG), and DA42 (legacy and NG).

Diesel powerplants

Austro Engine Certified Service Center

Factory-certified by Austro Engine to service the AE300 and AE330 diesel powerplants that power the DA40 NG and DA42 NG. Includes scheduled inspections, AD compliance, troubleshooting, and warranty-eligible work.

Diesel powerplants (Continental)

Continental GmbH Service Center

Authorized by Continental GmbH (formerly Thielert / Centurion) to service the Continental diesel powerplant line used in modern Diamond aircraft, including the CD-300 in the DA50 RG. Full scheduled and unscheduled maintenance capability with factory parts and tooling. Continental gas-piston engines are serviced under our A&P authority, not factory authorization.

Brake systems

Berringer Brake Distributor

Authorized distributor and installer for Berringer Aero brake systems. Brake overhauls, conversions, and factory parts kept in inventory for Diamond and other aircraft compatible with Berringer systems.

Our maintenance team

Five full-time A&P mechanics, on staff, on site, every day.

Five FAA Certified Airframe and Propulsion technicians, on staff at KMGJ, plus support staff. This is a meaningful distinction in general aviation maintenance, where many shops operate with one or two mechanics and shop volume that creates scheduling backlogs.

Five A&Ps means multiple aircraft can be in work simultaneously, emergency repairs don’t get queued behind scheduled annuals, and our training fleet stays available without competing with client work for shop time. It also means the shop’s institutional knowledge isn’t concentrated in one person who might be on vacation when you need them.

Aircraft we maintain

Three capability tiers.

Our authorizations and factory training run deepest on the Diamond fleet, but our A&P team works on most general aviation piston aircraft and turbo-prop singles. Here's the honest scope.

Tier 1 · Deepest capability

The Diamond fleet

DA20-C1 (Continental gas-piston)

DA40 (legacy IO-360)

DA40 NG (Austro AE300 diesel)

DA42 (legacy)

DA42 NG (twin Austro AE300)

DA50 RG (Continental CD-300 diesel)

Factory authorized. Warranty-eligible work, factory tooling, OEM parts inventory.

Tier 2 · Broad capability

Most piston aircraft

Cessna 152, 172, 182 (gas-piston)

Cirrus SR20 and SR22

Piper Cherokee, Archer, Warrior

Most experimental and homebuilt aircraft

Lycoming, Continental, and other piston powerplants

A&P-level work. Annual inspections, AD compliance, scheduled maintenance, repairs.

Tier 3 · Specialized capability

Turbo-prop singles

Piper Meridian / M-class

Daher TBM-series

Pilatus PC-12 (limited scope)

Most turbo-prop maintenance and inspection work

PT6A and similar powerplant familiarity

Call us about your specific airplane. Turbo-prop work is case-by-case based on scope, parts, and authorization.

E

Pre-purchase inspections (PPI)

Independent, thorough pre-purchase inspections. Comprehensive findings reports. We tell you what we found, not what you want to hear.

F

Unscheduled repairs & troubleshooting

Something broke or doesn't work right? Bring it in. Our shop is open 7 days a week and we keep emergency repair capacity for fleet and clients alike.

For Diamond aircraft owners specifically

If you own a Diamond, factory authorization is the variable that matters.

Diamond Aircraft makes some of the most modern, technically sophisticated piston aircraft in general aviation. Maintaining them properly requires more than a generic A&P certification — it requires factory training on Diamond-specific systems, access to the factory parts pipeline, and the authorization to perform warranty-eligible work.

As a Diamond Aircraft Factory-Authorized Service Center with both Austro Engine and Continental certifications, we have the full credential stack to maintain your Diamond properly — and to do it without voiding factory warranty coverage.

Diamond factory parts pipeline — OEM parts inventory plus factory ordering for non-stocked items

Austro AE300/AE330 diesel service — scheduled work, AD compliance, warranty

Continental CD-300 diesel service for DA50 RG owners

Garmin G1000 NXi panel work — same avionics across our entire training fleet

Factory-trained mechanics on every Diamond model we service

Warranty work documentation properly handled for Diamond's factory records

Common questions

What owners ask before bringing in their airplane.

Do you maintain aircraft based at other airports?

Yes. KMGJ Montgomery, NY is our home, but we service aircraft from the entire Northeast region. Owners typically fly in for scheduled work or ferry their aircraft in for unscheduled repairs.

What's the typical turnaround for an annual inspection?

A typical Part 91 annual on a Diamond piston single runs 1–2 weeks depending on findings. If your aircraft is already on a known cycle and we’ve worked on it before, that timeline tightens. We’ll give you a realistic schedule when you book.

Can you do warranty work for a Diamond I bought elsewhere?

Yes. As a Diamond Aircraft Factory-Authorized Service Center, we can perform warranty-eligible work on any in-warranty Diamond regardless of where it was purchased. We’ll document the work properly for Diamond’s records.

Do you do prebuy inspections?

Yes, and we treat them seriously. A prebuy is an independent assessment of the airplane you’re considering — not a stamp of approval. We give you a comprehensive findings report and tell you what we actually found, including things the seller might prefer we didn’t mention.

Do you have parts on hand or do you order everything?

Both. We keep substantial inventory for Diamond OEM parts, Austro engine consumables, Continental engine consumables, Berringer brake parts, and general consumables (filters, gaskets, fluids, etc.). Specialty parts and large items are ordered as needed.

Do you offer hangar space?

We have limited hangar space at KMGJ. Reach out and we’ll let you know current availability and waitlist status.

How do I get a quote?

Email service@takeflightoc.com with your aircraft type, the work you need, and any specific issues you’re trying to address. Or call 845-457-4188 during business hours. We’ll get you a written estimate before any work begins.

Ready to bring your airplane to a serious shop?

Reach out to schedule a consultation, request a quote, or just talk through your aircraft and what you need. We're available 7 days a week.
